Boca Home Care, Inc. has been awarded 5 stars, the highest rating possible, in a new rating system for Medicare Home Health Agencies.
The top rating of 5 stars was given to only 239 home health agencies out of more than 9000, introducing a new system that affords consumers a viable way to judge the quality of a provider.
This rating system was developed by the Federal government in order to bring transparency to a medical field, where it can be challenging to tell the best performers. Boca Home Care has been judged to be in the top 2% across the country.
The ratings were produced by taking the results of 9 of the 27 criteria that Medicare already compiles and makes available on the Home Health Compare section of their Website. These include things like how quickly the agency responds to needs, and how a patient improves while under the agency’s care for a variety of criteria.
They also counted whether or not the patient received a flu shot, if all medication was fully explained to either the patient or caretaker, and how quickly patient visits began after physician referral.
There had been some published data available, but it appears that consumers had rarely utilize it. The government hopes that the new star system will make it easier to find a high quality provider.
